Ventura was born in Notaresco, a little village in the hills between the Gran Sasso mountain and the Adriatic Sea in Italy. After completing secondary school, he moved to Bologna to study agronomy. In those formative years at university, he became interested in photography, and produced his first professional works. After a brief period of time working on a farm in Tuscany, he decided to become a full-time photographer. Since then, he has collaborated with several NGOs and UN Agencies in the Middle East and Europe, producing photographic essays, videos and exhibitions documenting the important work of these organizations. Throughout this time, he has continued his work as a photojournalist producing photography essays that document societies in a rapidly and ever changing world. He is currently based in Bangkok.
