In 2016 I collaborated with UN Women in North Macedonia and Serbia. These time to document the response of UN Women to the humanitarian crisis of refugees. These photos are part of the work that I realized. They are taken at the Serbian border with Hungary in the Subotica transit centre, and at the Kelebjia crossing point with Hungary. At the Kelebjia crossing point refugees are stranded in a no-man’s lands between Hungary and Serbia. The mobile outreach team from the NGO Atina tries to identify the most vulnerable people: women travelling alone or with children. With support of UN Women they try to provide assistance, counselling and make assessments regarding gender-based violence.
