SUSPENDED LIVES
In the West Bank and Gaza Strip, almost every Palestinian household has had a family member who has been arrested, held in detention, interrogated and/or imprisoned. Since 1967, it is estimated that more than 10,000 Palestinian women have been arrested by Israeli authorities. They experience the conditions of detention, interrogation and imprisonment differently as women and the effect on their families can be detrimental. Former prisoners and the families of women still in detention spoke out about their experiences. These photos are part of a project entitled Suspended Lives.
